About flowers… and little visitors 🐛

Recently, we’ve received some messages regarding a sensitive issue: the occasional presence of little critters in our flower boxes.
We know it can be discomforting, especially in demanding and strict environments, such as many professional kitchens where our products are used. And we genuinely understand the frustration this can cause.

The truth is that for us at Microgreens, it’s also a constant challenge and a source of concern.
But there’s something important we need to share with full transparency: unfortunately, this is one of those cases where you can’t have everything.
Either we grow truly edible and safe flowers or we try to completely eliminate any trace of life that inevitably exists.

From the very beginning, we chose the path of integrity: we don’t use products that jeopardise the health of consumers or the vitality of the soil that sustains us. This means that despite all the care and sorting procedures we implement, it’s possible for an insect to escape our attention and accompany the flowers into your kitchen.

What we recommend:
  • Shake the boxes well before using the flowers;
  • And, as an additional hygiene measure, soak them for a few minutes in cold water with 2% white wine vinegar.
We know this requires patience, and that’s why we ask for your empathy. We ask that, when you spot a little critter, you don’t see it as a mistake, but as a seal of trust. A reminder that these flowers are indeed edible, natural, authentic. So good that even nature desires them. :-)
