HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

The beginning of Microgreens dates back to a university project I had in hand while studying Business Management at the Portuguese Catholic University. What started as an academic idea for the Marketing course materialized through the creation of a website and a Facebook page to present the work. Unexpectedly, these digital platforms began to attract real requests from chefs, revealing a market demand for microgreens and edible flowers that, until then, were just fictitious.

As soon as I realized the market potential, I decided to turn the idea into reality after graduating in 2013.

The beginning was marked by challenges, mainly due to the lack of information on microgreens production. For a year, I dedicated myself to experiments, production adjustments, sourcing suppliers, and developing the brand, while also taking advantage of the online orders to test products with real customers.

Officially created in 2015, Microgreens has since experienced remarkable growth: we started with 140m² of greenhouses, reaching the current 4,200m², complemented by around 5,000m² of outdoor production.

Today, we serve more than 600 customers weekly, including some of the most renowned restaurants in the Iberian Peninsula, with about 60 of them holding 1, 2, and 3 Michelin stars.

Microgreens stands out for producing a wide range of microgreens, edible flowers, and other rare and specialty products, capable of satisfying the most demanding palates.

We value the high quality of our products and the service provided: our products are hand-picked, ensuring that each flower and leaf arrives at the peak of its freshness, with deliveries made within a maximum of 24 hours throughout the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands. This level of service and consistency in year-round production has made us a reference in the hospitality, catering, and cake design sectors.

I count on a super-team of 19 fantastic people, who work daily in sync with an ambitious vision: “To make Microgreens a reference brand for edible flowers and microgreens in the EU and to serve all those who seek us, with prestigious quality products, 365 days a year". 

Innovation and sustainability are fundamental pillars for us.

We installed a 45Kw photovoltaic park, which allows the entire operation to run solely on renewable energy, changed the distribution fleet to 100% electric vehicles, converted virgin plastic packaging to 100% recycled and recyclable, and implemented regenerative agriculture practices, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. 

These initiatives, along with the automation of administrative processes and the optimization of human resources, reflect our commitment to efficiency, quality, and environmental responsibility.

We have a robust online store and a portfolio of 140 internally produced references, which enables us to face future challenges and remain true to our mission of providing high-quality products with a positive impact on the environment and society.
