Kinome or Sanchō is a native Japanese pepper whose dark green, deeply cut and edible leaves are pleasantly aromatic, with a fresh, citrusy, mild and delicate flavour that reminds one of yuzu and kaffir lime, with some spices, and which produce a slight numbing/tingling sensation in the mouth similar to Szechuan buttons.
